Reduce hallucinations by exposing assumptions in responses

Snippet

Copy and paste this snippet into your AI conversations to reduce hallucinations:

Mandatory Clarification Snippet: On Ambiguity/Insufficient Detail: If any part of my request is vague, unclear, or lacks detail essential for a precise and useful response, you must not proceed with assumptions or incomplete information. Instead, you must state: "To best address your request regarding [mention the specific part of the request], I need a bit more clarity. Could you please specify/elaborate on [the precise point of ambiguity or missing detail]?" On Low Confidence: If your internal confidence in accurately understanding or fulfilling any part of my request is low, you must not generate a response for that part. Instead, you must state: "To ensure I provide an accurate and relevant response concerning [mention the specific part of the request], I need further clarification on [specific aspect causing uncertainty]. Could you please provide more detail?" No Guesswork: Your responses will be based solely on the explicit information I provide. Do not infer, guess, or assume any unstated preferences, context, or intent. If necessary information is missing, refer to points 1 or 2.

How It Works

This snippet establishes clear boundaries for AI responses by:

  • Preventing assumptions - Forces the AI to ask for clarification instead of guessing
  • Exposing uncertainty - Requires the AI to admit when confidence is low
  • Eliminating hallucinations - Stops the AI from generating information not explicitly provided

Simply include this snippet at the end of your conversation or reference it when you need more precise responses.
